Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
Ork (“we”, “us”, “our”) builds tools for capturing and organizing your notes across the web app, mobile apps, and the Ork browser extension. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it. It applies to ork.so, the Ork mobile apps, and the Ork browser extension.
What we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we store your email address and basic profile details so you can sign in and we can sync your notes across devices.
- Content you create. The notes, text, web pages, selections, images, files, and voice recordings you choose to save are stored in your Ork account so you can access them across devices.
- Authentication data. A session token is stored on your device (and, for the browser extension, in the browser's local extension storage) so you stay signed in and don't have to log in twice.
- Basic technical data. Standard server logs (such as IP address and request metadata) used to operate, secure, and debug the service.
What the browser extension accesses
The Ork browser extension only reads content from a web page when you
explicitly ask it to — for example when you save the current page, save a
selection, or take a screenshot. It does not monitor,
record, or log your browsing history or background activity. The extension
reads your existing Ork session from ork.so so you don't have
to sign in again, and uploads attachments and voice recordings directly to
Ork's storage provider (Amazon S3) using short-lived, Ork-issued URLs.
How we use your data
- To provide, sync, and back up the notes and content you save.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To transcribe voice recordings you create, so they're searchable as text.
- To operate, maintain, debug, and improve the service.
What we don't do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
- We do not use or transfer your data for purposes unrelated to Ork's core purpose.
- We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- We do not show third-party advertising in Ork.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to run Ork — including cloud hosting and storage (e.g. Amazon Web Services) and transcription services for voice notes. These providers process data only on our behalf and under contract, solely to deliver the service.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual notes at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the address below.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
Children
Ork is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
